Support Engineer
About The Position
Automat-it is an all-in AWS Premier Partner and Managed Services Provider specializing in the startup ecosystem. We are looking for a Support Engineer with hands-on AWS and Linux experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to monitor, support, and optimize customer environments in a 24/7 setting.

Key Responsibilities
- Respond to incidents according to playbooks
- Provide remote customer support in rotating 8-hour shifts to ensure 24/7 coverage (this role does not involve any face-to-face or on-site customer interaction)
- Monitor and troubleshoot network, infrastructure, and application issues
- Analyze metrics, alerts, and incidents to fine-tune algorithms and thresholds
- Maintain and document monitoring solutions
- Contribute to infrastructure automation and internal Support tools development
Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience in a similar position, such as NOC/Tech Support engineer or Junior DevOps
- Familiarity with AWS cloud services, with readiness to expand hands-on expertise and obtain AWS certification
- Availability to participate in a 24/7 operational shift rotation (Including Night Shifts)
- Confident Linux OS knowledge
- Network troubleshooting and configuration
- GIT and scripting skills with either Python or Bash
- Web applications architecture understanding
- Monitoring tools (Prometheus, Cloudwatch, etc.) and principles
- Upper-intermediate English language proficiency
- Great customer service and confident business communication skills
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, drive to prevent incidents
- Be innovative, learn new tools and best practices
- IaaC: CloudFormation, Terraform knowledge - advantage
- CI/CD: Jenkins, ArgoCD - advantage
- Containers orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes (EKS, GKE) - advantage
What Success Looks Like in Year One
- You demonstrate a strong understanding of the AWS services and infrastructure components monitored across customer environments, including customer-specific dependencies, alerting logic, and operational context. You use this knowledge to perform efficient root cause analysis and reduce investigation time during incidents.
- You demonstrate confident hands-on experience with the core monitoring toolset, including Datadog, CloudWatch, Grafana, Zabbix, and PagerDuty. You can independently configure monitoring for a new customer from scratch, including alerting, dashboards, and escalation flows tailored to the customer’s infrastructure and operational requirements.
- You demonstrate strong Сustomer Obsession, critical thinking, and analytical skills by going beyond alert acknowledgment to analyse patterns across metrics, logs, and events. You apply logical reasoning to identify root causes, distinguish false positives from real issues, improve alerting quality based on your findings, and help translate this ownership mindset across the team.
- You take effective ownership of customer issues, coordinate confidently with internal and external stakeholders, including DevOps, FinOps, AWS Support, and AWS TAMs.
- You can confidently act as the main engineer on shift, support new team members during their ramp-up, and help your shift partner follow the team’s operational flow, communication standards, and escalation process.
- You have successfully achieved the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner and AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate certifications, and continue developing your AWS expertise by preparing for additional certifications aligned with your professional growth path.
