About Audioburst

Audioburst is an Israeli startup that transforms the discovery, distribution, and personalization of talk audio. Audioburst’s AI algorithm automatically indexes talk audio from thousands of sources at scale to create short, topical segments of information for search and playlists. That increases exposure for creators and provides publishers with new content and revenue streams while conveniently informing and entertaining listeners.

The Challenge

Audioburst’s online services demand varies significantly along the weekdays and weekends. There are peak days and hours with extensive audio content for analysis. Like other online companies, this makes Audioburst’s pipelines and processes scalability and stability crucial for business and service performance.

The workloads deployed in Azure AKS did not provide the needed levels of scalability and performance.

Audioburst contacted Automat-it to cope with the business challenge.

The Solution

Chosen solution was to migrate the Kubernetes workloads to AWS EKS managed Kubernetes. This solution provides Audioburst with a stable, scalable, and monitored system. Cost of operation is controlled, enabling Audioburst to seamlessly scale up and down.

The AWS EKS solution was created according to WA pillars:

  1. Operational excellence – system health is fully monitored allowing continuous improvement
  2. Security – a secured 3-Tier architecture is used.
  3. Reliability – the EKS workloads are deployed across several AWS Availability Zones,
  4. Performance efficiency – Audioburst’s workloads are fully scalable.
  5. Cost optimization – FinOps is in place.

Automat-it migrated Audioburst’s workloads to AWS while keeping the production system running, including all online transcription and analysis pipelines.

The migration was done in stages:

  1. Create a staging environment to test the workloads on AWS before migrating the production workloads.
  2. Create a side-by-side production environment in AWS.
  3. Migrate the workloads to AWS while monitoring that the system functions properly.

Benefits

  1. A state of the art staging and production environments – secured, stable and monitored.
  2. Improved performance and scalability.
  3. A seamless low effort migration without downtime.
